What Is Physical AI.

Physical AI is what happens when artificial intelligence leaves the screen and enters the physical world. Instead of only processing text, images or data, physical AI systems perceive their surroundings, reason about them in real time, and act — while adapting their behaviour as conditions change, rather than following a fixed, pre-programmed script.

That’s a progression from language models to vision-language models to vision-language-action (VLA) models: AI that can now see, understand and act. These systems train in simulation, cycling data between digital twins and the real world, before that intelligence is deployed to physical hardware — including humanoids, autonomous mobile robots, drones, quadrupeds, manipulator arms and autonomous vehicles.
